Palmerston Manor is situated on the outskirts of Palmerston North in the suburb of Takaro. The local shopping centre, which is within close walking distance, has a pharmacy, bakery and dairy as well as a fast food outlet. There’s a bus stop at the front gate.
The facility is all on one level, making it easy for residents to enjoy walking around the rose garden and the sheltered courtyard. The courtyard is accessed from the dining room as well as the large lounge, which makes for a delightful indoor-outdoor flow in the summer months and the opportunity for barbecues.
There is a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, ensuring a high standard of care to all residents. Residents often choose to retain their family doctor (GP) and this is encouraged, although we are able to access a GP when required.
At Palmerston Manor, we believe looking after your happiness is just as important as looking after your health. This means providing a range of different activities and outings, preparing good food for you to enjoy and offering fun and friendship. We are always looking for new pastimes that fit with our resident’s interests.
We currently offer the following activities and services for our residents:
Bowls, bingo, board games, big print books, breakfast in bed, cards, care and craft, classical music, communicare, craft, entertainers, exercises, games, garden, happy hour, housie, indoor games, jigsaw, library, movies, music, newspaper reading, outings, parties, reading, roses, RSA visits, shopping, sing-a-longs and videos.
There is a bus stop at the front gate and the local shopping centre is just a three-minute walk away. The two local malls – Plaza and Downtown – are a short drive away. During the summer months, our diversional therapist takes residents to the Esplanade. We provide a library service in collaboration with the Palmerston North City Library.
