Our Care Offering

At Amberwood we put a lot of time and thought into providing a warm and welcoming community. We like to go out of our way to make you feel comfortable and secure.

 

With well-maintained gardens and light airy rooms, Amberwood is a place where you can be yourself. Residents know they can socialise with others if they want to, but at the same time their individual privacy is respected. Our staff are approachable, friendly, caring and community-minded, and there’s lots of lively entertainment for those who are in the mood.

 

The on-site kitchen at Amberwood provides delicious, healthy meals and snacks, and we can cater to individual preferences and needs.

 

Our large multi-cultural team bring many good things to the Amberwood community. As well as contrast and interesting stories, their diversity allows communication in a variety of different languages. The team are all well-trained, plus they’re always bright, cheerful, caring and happy.

 

Activities Programme

We encourage our residents to continue with activities they already enjoy - we also help them to discover new hobbies. As well as a varied activities programme, we offer the opportunity for specially requested events and outings as well.

 

Our dedicated recreational therapists keep programmes varied and interesting. We have exercise groups, walking and talking sessions, shopping trips and scenic excursions, craft activities, games, quizzes and live music and entertainment. And books, games and movies are always available.

 

Residents can join a group, get together with a friend or visitor, or spend some quiet time pursuing their own interests. There are many places available to suit all of these needs.

 

What’s Near By

Westgate Shopping Centre is close to our facility. Here you’ll find a supermarket, cinemas, tenpin bowling, restaurants, hairdressing salons and clothing stores.

 

There's a bus stop at the top of our driveway, as well as a main stop at the Westgate Shopping Centre. Massey Public Library is 200m away; this facility also hosts the Stroke Club. A bus is available each week to take residents if they wish. There many churches nearby.

    Debbie is a Registered Nurse with a range of clinical experience; including business management in aged care and corporate sectors. Debbie has worked as a Registered Nurse, Village Manager as well as a Clinical Service Manager in a DHB setting. Debbie is very passionate and committed to providing an empowering experience for the health and wellbeing of Amberwood's residents, staff and families/whanau. She has a deep understanding of her values of empathy, and respect, together with a good sense of humour. She enjoys being with family and friends, loves living in the country and going for long walks.

    Clinical Manager

    With over four decades of nursing under her belt, Rose has a depth of experience in a variety of nursing disciplines. Rose became passionate about Aged Care after seeing how staff worked with her father after he moved in a rest home. She believes leading with a smile makes all the difference and her optimism is infectious. Rose lives with her husband and cat, Claudia, and enjoys getting out on the yacht, catching up with friends, and reading.

    Originally from Ireland John trained and worked as a chef in London before moving to New Zealand. Working as a chef for Oceania fulfills two of his passions, cooking and working with people. He really enjoys interacting with residents and their families to help meet their needs from a food perspective. At home he enjoys vegetable and herb growing as well as watching sports.
