Atawhai Care

Our Care offering

Situated in park-like grounds, our dwellings come with their own outdoor areas, providing a great sense of tranquility and space. Conveniently located only minutes ride away in the minibus, which stops at our front gate, Atawhai offers peace and quiet plus a connection to the village.

Our residents say Atawhai has a lovely homely feeling. The staff are friendly and helpful, and love what they do.

Each resident benefits from a personal care plan and is expertly monitored to provide them with the exact level of care they need.

Activities Programme

We run an award winning activities programme designed to meet the needs of all our residents. It includes a diverse range of daily group and one to one activities as well as regular events and entertainment.
Monthly themed lunches, a la carte restaurant evenings and happy hours always prove popular with residents and their families alike.
Regular activities including cooking and exercise classes, arts and craft, Men’s club, Housie, crosswords, knitting, gardening, games, quizzes, indoor bowls and church services are just some of the group activities residents can enjoy in one of our two lounges, in the dining room or outdoors.

In addition, we have visits from local schools and kindy children, artists and other community groups as well as bi weekly entertainment by local singers and musicians. Our Chesterhope lounge is also set up with Sky TV so residents don’t miss special events such as the Rugby World Cup.

For those who like to venture out, we offer something for everyone, including fishing trips, gallery visits, shopping, outings to parks, cafés and the RSA, or simply sit back and enjoy one of our weekly sightseeing tours around the beautiful Hawkes Bay.
Because everyone loves a bit of friendly competition, we take on some of the other homes in the area in bowling matches, quizzes and our version of the Commonwealth Games.

Of course, families are a special part of our residents life’s and are always welcome and encouraged to join in. Whether it’s one of our special BBQ lunch outings by the beach, an outing to events such as Horse of the Year or any of our daily or weekly activities or events.

One on one walks, hand massage, pampering, reminiscing, talking books, music, chats, pet therapy are some of the one to one activities we also offer.
There is never a dull moment and something for everyone at Atawhai!
