Everil Orr Care

Our Care offering

WINNER OF 2013 NZACA EXCELLENCE AWARD - Bidvest Excellence in Food Award for Care Homes and Hospitals. Finalist in NZACA Excellence Awards in 2011 and 2012.

Everil Orr is known for its homely feel, friendly staff, excellent care, delicious food and readiness to have a bit of fun.

Offering beautiful views of the Waitemata Harbour, and set in park like gardens, our residents love spending time in the grounds - for peace and relaxation.

Our multi-cultural staff  enrich the lives of our residents  by  providing  contrast and diversity as well as an ability to accommodate many different languages. Our staff are not only well trained and competent but bright, cheerful, happy and caring.

There’s always a lot going on, life being lived and new friends being made.

Activities are organised by our activities team who work flexible hours across the whole week. This enables us to enjoy a varied programme with activities taking place during the day, evenings and weekends - whatever best suits the resident and the event.

Our on-site kitchen takes pride in serving lovely home-style meals and snacks - catering to everyone’s individual preferences and needs.

Activities Programme

We encourage our residents to continue with activities already of interest to them, as well as to discover new joys. Our focus is to organise a varied programme and we are always open to suggestions for events and outings.

Residents have the opportunity to join in with a group, get together with a friend or visitor, or simply spend some quiet time alone. There are many places available to suit all of these needs.

Just a few of the activities we enjoy on an annual basis; outings to see the tall ships come into the harbour, visiting the Christmas lights and Santa displays on Franklin Road (and we put our own up), Coca Cola Christmas in the Park, Guy Fawkes display with our neighbours, ANZAC Day service and morning tea with friends and family – and the list goes on.

We regularly enjoy activities such as fun and laughter over morning teas in the gardens, celebrating special occasions and events with a weekly Social Hour and background entertainment.

We’ve been involved in making a commercial for the Lotteries Commission and a series trailer for The Cadbury Dream Factory, as well as hosting film crews on site to make a music video and a short film. We’ve even hosted fabulously interesting visitors like an Astronaut from NASA, Marsha Ivins.

Other activities include a mid-winter solstice meal with an afternoon of entertainment, a fabulous old fashioned night at our winter ball, Tai Chi classes, Green prescription exercises, competing in the Rest Home games, regular weekly visits from our pet therapy team and our baby and toddler visits. There’s local school groups visiting, a Zumba demonstration, visits to MOTAT, Auckland Museum, Mairangi Arts Centre – tutors showcase…

There are things we haven’t even thought about yet that will just come along and become a new opportunity for an adventure. You may be surprised with what we can come up with.

What’s Near By

Everil Orr is close to the South Western and the Northern motorways. It’s only a short trip into downtown Auckland and the waterfront and we are conveniently located one street away from the bus route.

The Mt. Albert shops are approximately 500m away. We also operate a shop in the facility five days a week and there is a vending machine located in the reception area. St. Lukes is the closest Mall – only a few minutes drive. New Lynn Mall is approximately 6.5km away and is visited by our residents, in our van, on a weekly basis. Mt Albert park is within easy walking distance.

We have a Clinical Leader, who leads our Clinical Care Team and our Business and Care Manager, who is also a very experienced Registered Nurse. Out of hours support is also provided for our nurses by the Clinical Leader and Business and Care Manager.

Health care assistants make up the largest number of our care staff. Training is provided and encouraged for all of our staff so they provide skilled, competent care with confidence and compassion.

We are able to access the services of an Occupational Therapist for a resident if and when the need arises. This service is available at the residents own expense. Likewise, we are able to access the services of a social worker in the event of a resident requiring one.

  • "It occurs to me that 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.' To me this means the endless patience, encouragement, support and tireless care your staff give my family cannot be understated." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "The staff I had most contact with were Diane, Lorraine and Mia. They have been just fantastic, but I realise that everyone has contributed to Mum’s overall care. There were mornings when I had to wait for the staff to finish hugging Mum and telling her to have a lovely time when I came to take her out." - Family members of Oceania resident

  • "Just want to let you know how happy and grateful our family is, not only for the superb care you’re providing for our Mum but also for the wonderful respect and kindness everyone shows to residents and family members." - Family of Oceania resident

They all loved him and cared for him in a most special way, even though Alan was unable to speak very much due to a stroke." - Niece of Oceania resident
