Takanini Care

Our Care Offering

Residents and their families ofen describe Takanini as "homely", a place where they feel comfortable and cared for. Keeping residents physically and mentally active is important. Our team of three Recreational Therapists has over 25 years of aged care experience. The dementia unit has its own Recreational Therapist to cater for the specific needs of these residents.

Takanini provides three levels of care: rest home, hospital and dementia. If a resident requires a higher level of care, we can provide it without requiring them to move to another facility which can be unsettling.

All of Takanini’s Registered Nurses have experience in specialist units and deliver a very high standard of care that is specific to each resident's needs.

Residents at all levels of care have access to our Sensory Room, a popular space with many residents and their families that combines soft lighting, sounds, imagery and tactile objects to create a calming effect. The Sensory Room has been shown to reduce agitation, increase communication and create a sense of wellbeing.

Activities Programme

The Activities team provides our residents with a wide range of activities, chosen with their interests and abilities in mind. We also regularly have entertainers, creating a fun environment where families are encouraged to come along and join in.
