Woburn Care

Our Care Offering

Woburn is a ‘boutique’ rest home and dementia facility with just 33 residents. Our attractive historical building, originally a private hospital, is in the heart of the residential streets of Waipukurau.

Over the years Woburn has been tastefully decorated and many of our rooms have a small sitting area looking out into the beautiful landscape.

Our gardens have won several awards over the years – the roses are magnificent from October through to February/March. Our two resident cats are often also seen drinking from the fishpond (but never trying to catch the fish!).

Residents and families enjoy sitting on the sunny verandah, which has lovely garden views, or strolling around the grounds.

Activities Programme

We have plenty of activities to keep residents occupied if they choose. There are daily exercise sessions, games and quizzes, indoor bowls, and weekly outings to places of interest or shopping. We also have a weekly happy hour with entertainment, like sing-a-longs and visits from local school children, and interdenominational church services. We enjoy organising special events for our residents, such as mid-year Christmas dinner.

Woburn’s special outings are popular. They include things like a trip to a club for lunch, visit to local farms to see animals or just to enjoy morning tea out somewhere. Recently we organized a trip for the men to a local winery where the owner is an ex-All Black who loves showing off his rugby memorabilia.

Our staff also provide plenty of one-on-one attention to those who don’t feel inclined to join in activities. Movies are available to watch on DVDs.

Mum’s psychogeriatricist said she may never get up. You have proved this wrong." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "It occurs to me that 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.' To me this means the endless patience, encouragement, support and tireless care your staff give my family cannot be understated." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "The staff I had most contact with were Diane, Lorraine and Mia. They have been just fantastic, but I realise that everyone has contributed to Mum’s overall care. There were mornings when I had to wait for the staff to finish hugging Mum and telling her to have a lovely time when I came to take her out." - Family members of Oceania resident

  • "Just want to let you know how happy and grateful our family is, not only for the superb care you’re providing for our Mum but also for the wonderful respect and kindness everyone shows to residents and family members." - Family of Oceania resident

  • "On more than one occasion, the nurses came in to talk to Alan and say goodbye to him for the day, before they left at the end of their shift. They all loved him and cared for him in a most special way, even though Alan was unable to speak very much due to a stroke." - Niece of Oceania resident

  • "I would like to pass on our families appreciation to the manager Lyn, registered nurse Brenda and all the other staff that work at the home. Their treatment of my father right up until when he died was very respectful and caring. They allowed him to talk about his fears and reassured him. As a family we were able to spend time with Dad in his last few days and there were a large number of us. The staff never complained and were very sensitive and kind to us. Congratulations on providing a dignified and peaceful end to our 94 year old hero." - Daughter of Resident
