Kathleen celebrates a very special milestone

Kapiti News

Kathleen Burder, from Paraparaumu, celebrated her 107th birthday on Sunday.

Mrs Burder, born in Manchester, England, came to New Zealand with her parents and two siblings Ron and Pat when she was 15.  She was the eldest of her sister and brother. She lived in the eastern suburbs of Wellington most of her life.  She married Samuel Burder (from London, but they met in New Zealand) and had four daughters Wendy, Carole and twins Jennifer and Beverly.

“She was a remarkable mother, fantastic cook and a great sewer,” proud daughter Jenny said.

“She is in Eldon Lodge where she is happy and gets the most amazing care.  The staff all sang her Happy Birthday and they made her a lovely birthday cake and a card.”
