Jim Shaw will be one of the first to move into the brand new villas at Wharerangi Village

Introducing the new kid on the block when it comes to retirement living. Better known for its aged care, Wharerangi Village has undergone a major redevelopment which has seen 11 new two bedroom villas built and 12 one bedroom villas fully modernised.
With the finishing touches being made to the new Community Centre, the first residents are moving into their new homes in a couple of weeks.
Smaller than most retirement villages, Jim Shaw immediately liked what he saw and bought off the plans. “It’s less than half the size of the village I’d lived in before, but it feels like I have more space. And you get the sun all day which is nice.”
The location was another big drawcard for Jim who still drives but prefers to walk to keep himself fit. “My friends say isn’t it fantastic that I’m just two blocks from town. The RSA, my doctor, the shops – they’re all within walking distance. There’s a big park at the lake end of the street and from my patio I can see the mountains. I felt comfortable here right from the start. I’m really looking forward to it.”
