Otumarama Care

Our Care Offering

Tucked away down a tree-lined driveway and set amongst stunning gardens, Otumarama is a charming boutique Rest Home in the centre of Stoke. From the staff who greet you in the hallways, to the fresh and inviting living spaces, at Otumarama you’ll feel right at home. There’s always something happening in our main lounge - find a friend to chat to or join in the day’s events. If it’s peace and quiet you crave, relax in the beautiful gardens, or settle in a comfy chair in one of our many cosy nooks.

We don’t have visiting hours at Otumarama because we know it’s important you stay connected to your community. It’s home so friends and family can join you anytime for a cuppa and a catch-up. We’re just around the corner from the Richmond-Nelson motorway and airport, so it’s a breeze for visitors to pop in, or get you out and about to local shops and cafes.

Activities Programme

Hop in the village van for a jaunt, you’ll never know where it will take you next. A scenic drive or afternoon tea at the beach, there’s an exciting new destination each week. Or if it’s music you’re into, enjoy your own personalised playlist with I Love Music. Join in the fun with our visitors from Canine Friends or Nayland Primary School, exercise your green thumbs in the garden, or take part in our regular theme days and competitive seated-basketball games, there’s something for everyone no matter what you’re interested in.

Food

Tender Sunday roasts, hot fish and chips and scrummy homemade puddings… there’s a reason why the dining room is full before dinner! All of the above are regular features on our menu, which is packed with tasty family favourites you’d make at home. You’ll be sure to want second helpings!

Award Winning Care

Great care is what we do, and we’ve got the accolades to prove it. You can be sure you’re in good hands. Oceania has won the Supreme Care Award from the NZ Aged Care Association 3 years in a row. When it comes to your care, you know what you like and don’t like - and we want to know too. Because everyone is different all of our residents get a personalised care plan where from meals to medications, everything that’s important to you is covered. • To everyone at Otumarama, thank you all so very much for the kind and respectful way you always dealt with Mum and I. The staffs informal and very normal way of dealing with the residents and visitors, Bev's wandering through the lounge to have a chat here and there, is great. These things made my visits very comfortable. - Daughter of an Otumarama Resident

  • "Please pass on our thanks to you and your team who have done a marvellous job in caring and settling dad in. The professionalism and level of care has been excellent." - Daughter of Oceania resident

  • "You are all very special people, I saw the dignity and respect you show all the residents including my mum, I head back overseas in the knowledge she is very well cared for." - Daughter of Oceania resident

  • "I love to be here. The staff are absolutely incredible. I feel so safe and that's the main thing." - Dorothy Girven, Oceania Resident

  • "Rettie, thank you, all of your staff have done more than we could have ever achieved alone. 2 years and 5 months after our mum fell down and broke her hip – she has melted with your persistent loving care and got up from her chair. Mum’s psychogeriatricist said she may never get up. You have proved this wrong." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "It occurs to me that 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.' To me this means the endless patience, encouragement, support and tireless care your staff give my family cannot be understated." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "The staff I had most contact with were Diane, Lorraine and Mia. They have been just fantastic, but I realise that everyone has contributed to Mum’s overall care. There were mornings when I had to wait for the staff to finish hugging Mum and telling her to have a lovely time when I came to take her out." - Family members of Oceania resident

  • "Just want to let you know how happy and grateful our family is, not only for the superb care you’re providing for our Mum but also for the wonderful respect and kindness everyone shows to residents and family members." - Family of Oceania resident

  • "On more than one occasion, the nurses came in to talk to Alan and say goodbye to him for the day, before they left at the end of their shift. They all loved him and cared for him in a most special way, even though Alan was unable to speak very much due to a stroke." - Niece of Oceania resident
