Whitianga Care

Our Care Offering

Whitianga rest home is known for its beautiful, waterfront location and warm community atmosphere. It’s a place where residents and their families can feel at home and rely on staff for a kind and thoughtful approach. Whether you enjoy socialising or quiet time, how you spend your day is up to you. Find a friend and join in the day’s activities or relax in one of our many cosy nooks.

We don’t have visiting hours because we know it’s important you stay connected to your community. It’s home, so friends and family can join you anytime for a cuppa and a catch up.

Activities Programme

Our fantastic activities programme has something for everyone, with exercise initiatives like ‘Upright & Active’ helping residents to improve their strength and mobility and regular visits from schools and local groups to ensure residents remain connected to their community.

Living in the heart of the Coromandel certainly has its benefits, as our van trips are like no other! Enjoy fish and chips on Hot Water Beach, take a walk around the Whitianga Waterways or dip your feet in the sea at Hahei – there’s an exciting new destination every week to explore.

Food

Tender Sunday roasts, hot fish and chips and scrummy homemade puddings… there’s a reason why the dining room is full before dinner! All of the above are regular features on our menu, which is packed with tasty family favourites you’d make at home. You’ll be sure to want second helpings.

Award-Winning Care

Great care is what we do, and we’ve got the accolades to prove it. You can be sure you’re in good hands. Oceania has won the Supreme Care Award from the NZ Aged Care Association 3 years in a row. When it comes to your care, you know what you like and don’t like - and we want to know too. Because everyone is different, all of our residents get a personalised care plan where from meals to medications, everything that’s important to you is covered. We’ve got a variety of different rooms, so no matter your needs or budget, there are plenty of options.

What’s Near By

With the beach on your doorstep, simply cross the road for a walk along the shore. The town centre is close by, so it couldn’t be easier to catch up with friends and family for coffee or browse the local shops.

  • "I love to be here. The staff are absolutely incredible. I feel so safe and that's the main thing." - Dorothy Girven, Oceania Resident

  • "Rettie, thank you, all of your staff have done more than we could have ever achieved alone. 2 years and 5 months after our mum fell down and broke her hip – she has melted with your persistent loving care and got up from her chair. Mum’s psychogeriatricist said she may never get up. You have proved this wrong." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "It occurs to me that 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.' To me this means the endless patience, encouragement, support and tireless care your staff give my family cannot be understated." - Family member of Oceania resident

  • "The staff I had most contact with were Diane, Lorraine and Mia. They have been just fantastic, but I realise that everyone has contributed to Mum’s overall care. There were mornings when I had to wait for the staff to finish hugging Mum and telling her to have a lovely time when I came to take her out." - Family members of Oceania resident

  • "Just want to let you know how happy and grateful our family is, not only for the superb care you’re providing for our Mum but also for the wonderful respect and kindness everyone shows to residents and family members." - Family of Oceania resident

  • "On more than one occasion, the nurses came in to talk to Alan and say goodbye to him for the day, before they left at the end of their shift. They all loved him and cared for him in a most special way, even though Alan was unable to speak very much due to a stroke." - Niece of Oceania resident
